I'm still debating if my rating is a bit harsh as the food was very good, staff pleasant and wine selection good too. However the sharing concept/process didn't really work for us as my wife is vegetarian and I'm not. We ordered 50/50 as usual, but maybe we had missed that you get plates in an order (well we did) rather than 'as they come'. This meant a couple of meat dishes, which left my wife sitting around and then a couple of vegetarian dishes. Maybe we were too British and should have said, can we have one of the vegetarian dishes hurried up please, but we had told them in advance and on arrival. Therefore should our little nuance have been dealt with automatically? We always try to support local restaurants and Oktopus will probably do well, it just probably doesn't suit us.

Thank you Oktopus chefs and staff for a faultless and wonderful evening. I booked a table for two with my elderly dad visiting from France. Warm welcome from the staff, we had a large table with plenty of space, really loved the atmosphere and seeing the orders being cooked literally in front of us in the open kitchen. The waitress took time to explain the menu options, we ordered 4-5 sharing plates. Everything was delicious and super tasty. It has restored my faith in Liverpool restaurants as I've had quite a few disappointing experiences in so-called award winning restaurants so far. I highly recommend this place, it's equally good for groups or couples/families. Brilliant place.

Best meal of 2018 had here with wifey dearest last night. Great atmosphere, set up and staff but oh my this place really lets the food do the talking. Simple but elegant popcorn mussels, Welsh rarebit with cheesy topping the texture of peanut butter (awesome, believe me) and lots of other goodness. Real star of the show was the chickpea dish with black olive caramel. The two guys behind the pass are really showing some talent and flair. Get yourself there soon

Delicious sharing plates and single dishes - seriously good food at reasonable prices. A range of good beers on tap from the local Black Lodge brewery as well as nice wines. We come here every time we visit Liverpool. Only criticism is that some of the tables (which are of a generous size in this day and age ) are too close together and on our most recent visit the serving (very friendly) staff frequently knocked into our table. Do go there but be careful on booking your table. Enjoy.

Quite possibly the best restaurant I've visited in Liverpool. The dishes are well cooked and executed. The staff as knowledgeable without being over bearing. The food was outstanding. Absolutely delicious.
