I know people sometimes complain about this airport but I think it's partly because they haven't done their research. To tackle main accusation:- It is a bit dated (not that much worse than Manchester tho), I think it's mainly due to the fact that the city is pondering around the idea of upgrading and there's a lot of push back (rightfully). I support upgrade, but I do really hope they won't build it bigger costing Liverpool all the precious wildlife area behind the airport. It wouldn't hurt to scrub it properly hence one star down. - There IS ABSOLUTELY FREE drop off area. I don't know another airport where you can stop for up to half an hour for free. Just look for the signs, it's a bit further (behind the car rental places) which means like 3 min walk. I prefer that than paying for the shortest stop as on other airport (like Manchester for example) - Yeah the food is not great and the places close early. I don't know many small airport with fancy restaurants as they would simply not last. Most of people do prefer Burger King, Subway or Costa, hence that's what's there. Perhaps pack a sandwich if you are on a late flight or have your dinner before you leave home. Late night eating isn't great for your body shape anyway. - They do charge for the plastic bags for liquids - I think you can get away if you go all the way to security and then announce you forgotten, but whats the point anyway? Get yourself just transparent bag that you can use across many flight. Another problem solved plus you are now eco friendly.- There's not many shops - there few enough to entertain yourself, but you wont be able to go your regular Hugo Boss shopping here. Considering this is an airport not a shopping mall I don't see how this would be a big issue.
Often use this airport to travel to and from Northern Ireland. I live by the airport, it would be so much more useful if you could walk straight to the airport from Western Avenue, instead of having to walk all the way around! That being said, good amenities, usually fast security and friendly staff.
Great airport. Great bus network to city centre, very nice hotel across road from terminal, easy to navigate around. Whsmith and restaurants including subway. Restaurants are little dear but they are always like that in airports
Very easy to use and navigate. Good range of destinations. Much better experience than flying from Manchester.
Liverpool John Lennon Airport is such a great airport, nice shops and places so you could go for something to eat and drink. Frankie & Bennies is a good place to have a drink and a bite to eat before your flight. I have flown out of this airport many times, even though I'm from Manchester, and fly from Manchester Airport, I still think it's a great airport to fly from.
